I began handcrafting jewelry 4 years ago.  I started working with wire...loving the feeling of the

wire, bending and molding, thus the name Barb's Wire Jewelry.  After attending a bead show, I

fell in love with handmade lampworked (borosilicate) glass beads.  They have unique blended

colors, some with added dichroic.   At a later time I was introduced to Kazuri Beads, another

handmade hand-painted ceramic bead, by the women of Kenya, East Africa.  Each bead is

shaped by hand, without the aid of moulds or forms.  Kazuri means small and beautiful in

Swahili, the language of Kenya.  For added beauty I also use Hill Tribe Fine Silver beads and

pendants, made by the Karen Hill Tribe in northern Thailand, using traditional tribal methods

passed down from generation to generation.  Both Kazuri & Hill Tribe beads are fair trade items.

I have studied with various artists, learning different wire techniques from wire wrapping,

making chain, beginning metalsmithing & fine silver fusing. I now teach wire classes at my

daughter and granddaughter's bead store ~ Bunches of Beads in Lodi, CA.  I take great care in

creating quality handcrafted designs, using handcrafted beads,  for women that like unique and

beautiful jewelry.

In the past two years I have been selling at Arts & Crafts Fairs (check my show schedule for a

show near YOU) throughout Central California.  Encouraged by my many repeat customers to

have a website.... thus BarbsWireJewelry.com was developed.
